Correspondence (both personal and professional), journals, mss. of writings, research notes and materials (including transcripts, photocopies, and microfilms), subject files, course materials including lectures, outlines, and notes, speeches, reviews, biographical data, memoirs, financial and legal papers, clippings, memorabilia, photos, and other personal and family papers, relating to Gipson's activities as a Rhodes scholar, professor of history at Lehigh University (1924-1951) and visiting professor of American history at Oxford University (1951-1952), author of numerous historical publications and especially his multi-volume history of the British Empire prior to the American Revolution, and his involvement in various professional organizations and service as an adviser to various organizations, journals, and editing and publication projects, and especially his involvement with Conference on British Studies, Conference on Early American History, and Pennsylvania Historical Association.
